Design Features

From the original Audi 100 to the new A6, Audi stay true to the core values of progressive design. Sleek yet spacious, the A6 is a handsome and well-proportioned beauty. At the 2005 World Car Awards, Judge Peter Lyon commented, “Whether inside or out, A6’s design and quality leads the pack. Every inch of that exterior is pure poetry”.

	Front styling A key style feature is the prominent, trapezoidal single-frame grille. Its appearance is complemented by the V-bonnet line, emphasising the power that lies beneath the metal.

	Interior All important functions can be accessed intuitively and ergonomically, allowing the driver to fully engage in the driving experience.

	Coupé-style roof The coupé-style roof is based on the classic proportions of an Audi sports saloon. The roofline’s arc tapers down towards the tail, yet inside there’s plenty of room for five adults to travel in comfort.

	Steering wheel A new steering wheel with a 4-spoke or 3-spoke design makes its debut in the A6 Saloon, emblazoned with Audi’s distinctive four-ring emblem.

The new A6 changes all that, delivering exhilarating performance and cosseting luxury in one car. Advanced suspension design achieves handling precision without harshness. Above all, Audi's range of engines for the new A6 combine instant acceleration, high-speed cruising ability and remarkable fuel efficiency.

	4.2 litre V8 engine The unique 4.2-litre V8 engine of the Audi A6 is capable of exceptional performance. Overtaking ability is instant across the rev range while fuel consumption is remarkably low.

	6-speed tiptronic The 4.2 V8 and 3.2 V6 FSI® engine versions of the A6 Saloon, utilise the 6-speed tiptronic transmission system, drawing out the engine’s most powerful characteristics and creating the choice of a relaxing or exhilarating drive.

	FSI® Initially designed to help the all-conquering Audi R8 racing cars sweep the board at Le Mans, Direct Injection now finds its way to the A6. Power and fuel efficiency are offered simultaneously thanks to the ability to switch seamlessly between homogenous and direct charge combustion.

	quattro Assured road-holding and rock-solid braking are the enhanced performance benefits of quattro four-wheel-drive. Its exceptional traction, dynamic cornering and impeccable road handling all make for sports car feel and exceptional luxury car comfort.

	4-link front suspension A front, four link suspension and trapezoidal-link rear suspension layout create remarkable driving dynamics and comfort. This has been developed to operate smoothly and effortlessly and maximise steering precision.

From quattro all-wheel-drive to FSI® direct fuel injection for petrol engines, Audi's technology commitment means safer, more efficient and more involving cars for all of us to drive.

	DVD navigation With a state-of-the-art, faster operating system, a large 6.5” screen and an improved zoom function, the A6 Saloon’s satellite navigation outperforms older CD-based systems. All you need do is decide where you want to go.

	Light sensor Simple but effective: the A6 features a light sensor to switch on low-beam headlights automatically in poor light conditions, such as at dusk or when entering a tunnel.

	MMI Audi’s Multi Media Interface is an intelligent one-point solution to navigation, entertainment, communications and vehicle control. It eliminates the array of switches and buttons that would otherwise be needed and the driver can operate it intuitively without taking his or her eyes off the road.

	Rain sensor The A6 wipers automatically activate when they detect rainfall on the windscreen. The intermittent-wipe interval varies automatically to match the amount of rain.

	Advanced key Advanced key technology combines maximum security with maximum convenience. Doors can be opened or locked without using the car key and the engine can be started at a button on the centre console.


Safety Features

In the A6 Saloon, a high level of specially adapted active and passive safety systems, such as two-stage airbags and roll-over protection, create an environment of utmost security. And with its exceptional grip, Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) and powerful brake system, the A6 can be driven with confidence in any conditions.

	Adaptive light Night-time driving is made safer by a networked light system that uses steering wheel movements to identify the upcoming road course and turn the headlights accordingly.

	ESP 8.0 The fully automated Electronic Stability Programme provides intelligent management of the A6 Saloon’s braking systems and intervenes in the engine management system to restore traction to individual wheels.

	Tyre pressure monitoring The A6 Saloon’s monitoring system continuously monitors tyre pressure, providing a visual and audible alert. Pressure changes due to varying temperatures are compensated for automatically.

	Extra space The new A6 Saloon is both longer and broader. With larger footwells there is now greater leg protection, while extra shoulder room lessens the likelihood of upper body injury.

	SIDEGUARD® In the event of a side impact, side airbags will activate, preventing occupant injury. The head-level airbag covers the entire front and rear side-window including the A-post area.
