Design Features

	Sporty exterior styling The new A3 combines the muscularity of a sports car with the practicality of a hatchback. Its distinguished ‘tornado line’ - a subtle panel fold running horizontally from headlight to rear light - and flared panels help deliver sporty driving dynamics and looks.

	Interior The well-tailored, crisply styled interior really distinguishes the contemporary feel of the Audi A3 from the rest of the field. Clean, uncluttered shapes. low level seating and raised gear lever position all make for a car that’s a satisfying place to spend time.

	The new face of A3 Whether you are passing it in the street or are sitting behind the wheel, the A3 makes an impression. The chrome double-frame grille and clear glass headlights make it distinctively Audi, but with a new edge.

	Soft-touch boot The longer you spend with the Audi A3 the more you’ll appreciate the thoughtfulness that extends to every detail, such as the soft-touch luggage compartment release.


Performance Features

The stylish, sporty exterior is equally matched by the A3’s dynamic performance. Choose from one of ten different configurations of engine and gearboxes, including 5 and 6-speed manual, 6-speed tiptronic and the remarkable new 6-speed S tronic transmission. Every model in the A3 range is expressly designed to be engaging and exhilarating to drive.

	Dynamic suspension With an all-new aluminium subframe, McPherson strut suspension at the front and an innovative four-link suspension at the rear, the A3 has been re-engineered and subtly refocused to give you complete clarity of handling.

	3.2 litre V6 The 250PS narrow-angle 3.2 litre V6 engine provides the A3 with sheer brute power. 0-62 mph takes just 6.5 seconds. Audi’s quattro four-wheel-drive ensures that power is always divided between all four tyres for optimum grip, roadholding and traction.

	servotronic steering This electro- mechanical power steering system provides the driver with perfect control. What’s more, it makes a significant contribution to the A3’s fuel economy.

	FSI® Our revolutionary 2.0 litre FSI® engine provides the new A3 with its high performance and exceptional fuel economy. The FSI® direct injection technology intelligently switches between modes to offer maximum fuel efficiency or overtaking power.

	S tronic Our innovative S tronic transmission has now been applied to the new A3. Initially pioneered for motorsport, it’s specifically designed to make ultra-fast gear changes without disrupting the power flow.


Technology Features

Innovation is an honoured tradition at Audi that can be traced right back to the original trailblazing quattro coupe. Today, the same commitment continues with the FSI® direct injection petrol engine. This piece of advanced engineering helped Audi achieve a hat-trick of wins in the gruelling Le Mans 24-hour Grand Prix d’Endurance - and is now found in the A3.

	S tronic The S tronic two-shaft transmission contains two clutches. As one clutch transmits the power from the engine, the other pre-selects the next gear ratio. This is achieved by automatically releasing the first clutch, then quickly engaging the second for seamlessly fast gear changes.

	quattro Audi is indelibly associated with quattro, proof that four-wheel-drive isn’t just for off-roaders. quattro brings a variety of benefits in road holding and is featured on the most powerful models in the new A3 range.

	6-speed tiptronic Smooth power transmission is achieved via an automatic transmission with torque converter, which also allows the option of instantly selectable gear changes for a perfectly smooth ride.

	FSI® FSI® uses direct injection technology to deliver outstanding performance, low CO2 emissions and improved fuel economy. Dependent on acceleration, it can either distribute maximum power or efficiently use less fuel and cut emissions.

	servotronic steering The A3’s servotronic electro-mechanical power steering system contains sensors that register when the steering wheel is turned, so that the required amount of power assistance is calculated and distributed accordingly.


Safety Features

Audi’s safety philosophy is to put the driver in total control, able to avoid dangerous situations before they can develop. quattro four-wheel-drive, dependable steering and suspension responses, and excellent brakes all play their part. What’s more, the A3’s performance in the industry Euro-NCAP passive safety tests proves that it’s one of the safest places to be.

	Front Airbags In the event of an accident, intelligent impact sensors, including an innovative ‘up-front’ sensor, will detect the severity and nature of the impact and trigger the appropriate occupant protection systems.

	SIDEGUARD® In the event of a side impact, side airbags will activate, preventing occupant injury. The head-level airbag covers the entire front and rear side-window including the A-post area.

	ESP Should a difficult driving situation occur, the A3's Electronic Stability Programme provides an intelligent, swift response. The system is capable of braking individual wheels to the limits of their grip whilst altering the engine management settings, ensuring safe braking whatever the conditions.

	ASR Anti Slip Regulation unobtrusively cuts power to any wheel which has lost traction. This means the A3 continues to accelerate safely, so instantaneously that the driver may not even be aware of ASR’s assistance.

	Brake system The high-performance brake system combines short braking distances, sensitive control and optimum cooling of the brakes, so that full performance is retained even after repeated applications. Our ABS antilock braking system and EBD provide peace of mind in the event of an emergency stop.
